Meet Lindsie Bruns
How did you get introduced to babywearing?
I read “Attachment Parenting” by Dr. Sears when I was pregnant with my first baby (he is now 10 years old). I really liked everything they talked about, including babywearing. I had also seen my sister wear my niece in a ring sling. That was the first carrier I used, followed by a Baby Bjorn, and then every other kind of carrier under the sun!
How long have you been babywearing?
I’ve been Babywearing for over 10 years now, with all four of my babies.

3 hours after birth!
How has it changed your life?
Babywearing is a life saver. It’s the only surefire way I know of to keep a baby happy and safe for long periods of time, while still being able to do things. It’sgreat for having your hands free to take care of older kids. I have four kids now and my carriers are essential every day! Babywearing has also helped me meet lots of other moms and make friends.
Have you traveled and found babywearing helped?
Yes, I love wearing my baby through the airport, and it’s much nicer than a stroller in crowded places, and more practical when hiking.
Has there been anyone in your life that has made babywearing click for you or been a big help?
All the people I’ve worked with at Babes in Arms are amazing and all have taught me different things. And Jen Wadleigh of Babywearing Calgary is the most knowledgeable babywearer I know. She is always willing to help.
What is one piece of advice you would offer about babywearing?
I would suggest trying lots of different carriers and having fun with it. I love using a ring sling for quick ups, a wrap around the house, and a wrap conversion mei tai or full buckle when I’m out for the day.
What is your favourite carrier?
My sister is a weaver (WaxwingHandwovens), and she created a legacy handwoven rainbow wrap for my daughter. It is probably my most prized possession.
What is your favourite carry?
I really like the double hammock with saltwater finish. It’s really comfortable and pretty.
If you could have any wrap/carrier (your ultimate DISO) what would it be?
A custom handwoven rainbow wrap converted into a full buckle carrier with custom embroidery.
Happy babies are babies that are worn!
